(LPL/EN) – El zar fronterizo Tom Homan anunció este miércoles el retiro “inmediato” de 700 policías de migraciones de Mineápolis, donde se encuentra por encargo del presidente Donald Trump tras semanas de tensión en la ciudad debido a la muerte de dos manifestantes a manos de agentes federales.

Homan reconoció en una rueda de prensa que hay una mejor colaboración con las autoridades locales y “menos” necesidad de mantener agentes federales en esta ciudad del norteño estado de Minesota, escenario de protestas por las redadas contra migrantes ordenadas por la Casa Blanca.

“Nunca habíamos tenido este tipo de cooperación” con las autoridades locales, se congratuló el enviado, que no precisó si la retirada es solo de la ciudad de Mineápolis o de todo el estado de Minesota.

Desde hace semanas, miles de policías federales, entre ellos agentes armados y con pasamontañas, han multiplicado las redadas en el estado para expulsar a migrantes indocumentados, uno de los objetivos de Trump en su segundo mandato.

“Hemos logrado avances significativos”, añadió Homan, que dio cifras de estos operativos: 139 detenidos por agresión, 87 por delitos sexuales y 28 por pertenencia a pandillas.

(LPL/EN) – Border czar Tom Homan announced this Wednesday the “immediate” withdrawal of 700 immigration officers from Minneapolis, where he is on assignment from President Donald Trump after weeks of tension in the city due to the deaths of two protesters at the hands of federal agents.

Homan acknowledged at a press conference that there is better collaboration with local authorities and “less” need to maintain federal agents in this city in the northern state of Minnesota, the scene of protests against the raids on migrants ordered by the White House.

“We’ve never had this kind of cooperation” with local authorities, the envoy said, without specifying whether the withdrawal is only from the city of Minneapolis or from the entire state of Minnesota.

“We have made significant progress,” added Homan, who provided figures for these operations: 139 arrested for assault, 87 for sexual offenses, and 28 for gang membership.
