Hombre arrestado tras intentar atropellar a un oficial y huir de una parada de tráfico en Memphis

(LPL) – Un hombre identificado como Nathan Delgado, de 27 años, fue arrestado el martes por la tarde en Memphis luego de presuntamente intentar atropellar a un oficial durante una parada de tráfico y provocar una persecución policial, informó el Departamento de Policía de Memphis (MPD).

El incidente ocurrió alrededor de las 5:15 p.m. en la intersección de Bryndale y Clearbrook, en el vecindario de Parkway Village, donde agentes realizaban una detención por vidrios con tinte excesivamente oscuro. Según la policía, el conductor aceleró cuando los oficiales intentaban detener a su acompañante y estuvo a punto de embestir a uno de los agentes.

Tras el intento de atropello, se inició una persecución que se extendió hasta el área de Knight Arnold y Claudette. Durante el seguimiento, las autoridades utilizaron bandas de picos para detener el vehículo, lo que permitió deshabilitar la camioneta SUV del sospechoso.

MPD informó que Delgado fue arrestado en el lugar y enfrenta varios cargos, entre ellos asalto contra un oficial, evasión de arresto y posesión de drogas. El pasajero que viajaba con él fue detenido brevemente, pero posteriormente quedó en libertad.

(LPL) – A man identified as Nathan Delgado, 27, was arrested Tuesday afternoon in Memphis after allegedly attempting to run over a police officer during a traffic stop and leading officers on a pursuit, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

The incident occurred around 5:15 p.m. at the intersection of Bryndale and Clearbrook in the Parkway Village neighborhood, where officers had stopped a vehicle for excessively dark window tint. Police said the driver suddenly sped off as officers attempted to detain his passenger and nearly struck one of the officers.

Following the attempted assault, officers initiated a pursuit that continued to the area of Knight Arnold and Claudette. During the chase, police deployed spike strips, which disabled the suspect’s SUV.

MPD reported that Delgado was taken into custody at the scene and faces multiple charges, including assault on an officer, evading arrest, and drug possession. The passenger was briefly detained and later released.

The investigation remains ongoing.
