(LPL) – Un hombre de 33 años fue arrestado y enfrenta múltiples cargos tras un violento incidente de violencia doméstica ocurrido la madrugada del 11 de abril en el área de Whitehaven, en Memphis.

De acuerdo con la Policía de Memphis, los oficiales respondieron poco antes de las 2:00 a.m. a un llamado por agresión agravada en la cuadra 3600 de Bellbranch Drive. Al llegar, encontraron una gran cantidad de sangre frente a la entrada de la vivienda. La víctima abrió la puerta sosteniendo su oreja, la cual estaba envuelta, mientras que el sospechoso, identificado como Jeffrey Free, se encontraba detrás de ella con una toalla ensangrentada en el brazo.

Las autoridades indicaron que Free presentaba una herida profunda en el antebrazo, por lo que se le colocó un torniquete antes de ser trasladado al hospital en condición crítica. La víctima también fue llevada a un hospital, donde fue reportada en condición no crítica.

La víctima relató que al intentar salir del lugar, Free la siguió hasta su vehículo, se introdujo en el asiento trasero y, cuando ella trató de regresar a su vivienda, la agredió golpeando su cabeza contra la puerta del conductor en múltiples ocasiones, provocándole una grave lesión en la oreja.

El reporte policial también señala que el sospechoso amenazó con matarla y atropellarla. Posteriormente, ingresó a la vivienda, tomó un cuchillo y se autolesionó en el brazo. Luego, obligó a la víctima a entrar nuevamente al domicilio y se negó a dejarla salir cuando la policía llegó al lugar.

En la vivienda se encontraban cuatro menores de edad, quienes no resultaron heridos. Los oficiales lograron asegurar la escena tras obtener una orden de registro, donde localizaron un cuchillo.

Free fue detenido y enfrenta cargos por secuestro agravado, agresión doméstica y agresión agravada. Su fianza fue fijada en 100,000 dólares y se espera que comparezca ante el tribunal este martes.

According to the Memphis Police Department, officers responded shortly before 2:00 a.m. to a call regarding aggravated assault in the 3600 block of Bellbranch Drive. Upon arrival, they discovered a large amount of blood in front of the home’s entrance. The victim opened the door holding her ear—which was bandaged—while the suspect, identified as Jeffrey Free, stood behind her with a blood-stained towel draped over his arm.

Authorities noted that Free had sustained a deep wound to his forearm; consequently, a tourniquet was applied before he was transported to a hospital in critical condition. The victim was also taken to a hospital, where she was reported to be in non-critical condition.

According to the woman’s statement, the suspect had come to her apartment to retrieve his belongings. An argument ensued after she informed him that she did not wish to continue their relationship. The situation escalated when the man told her that he was not going anywhere.

The victim recounted that when she attempted to leave the premises, Free followed her to her vehicle, climbed into the back seat, and—when she tried to return to her home—assaulted her by repeatedly smashing her head against the driver’s door, causing a severe injury to her ear.

The police report also indicates that the suspect threatened to kill her and run her over with a vehicle. Subsequently, he entered the home, grabbed a knife, and inflicted a self-harm wound to his arm. He then forced the victim back inside the residence and refused to let her leave when the police arrived at the scene.

Four minors were present inside the home at the time but were not injured. Officers secured the scene after obtaining a search warrant, where they located a knife.

Free was taken into custody and faces charges of aggravated kidnapping, domestic assault, and aggravated assault. His bail was set at $100,000, and he is expected to appear in court this Tuesday.
