Persecución nocturna termina en choque fatal contra camión de carga en Raleigh

(LPL) – Un sospechoso murió luego de estrellar su vehículo durante una persecución policial de casi cinco millas registrada la noche del martes en el área de Raleigh, informó el Servicio de Alguaciles de Estados Unidos (U.S. Marshals).

De acuerdo con la agencia, el incidente comenzó alrededor de las 9:30 p.m., cuando la Patrulla de Caminos de Tennessee intentó detener un automóvil que circulaba a exceso de velocidad cerca de los apartamentos Greenbriar, en Madewell Street. El conductor hizo caso omiso a la orden y se inició una persecución que se extendió por aproximadamente cinco millas.

Durante la huida, el sospechoso atravesó varios semáforos en rojo. La persecución terminó en la intersección de Warford Street y James Road, donde el vehículo se pasó una luz roja y se estrelló contra un camión tipo caja y un poste de alumbrado.

El conductor fue trasladado de emergencia a un hospital, donde posteriormente falleció. Las autoridades informaron que el hombre tenía una orden de arresto vigente por agresión agravada y que dentro del vehículo se encontró una pistola.

Al llegar al lugar del accidente, FOX13 observó un automóvil con severos daños y otro volcado sobre la vía. Varias agencias del orden público permanecían en la escena mientras se realizaban las investigaciones.

Según U.S. Marshals, ningún agente resultó herido. Un pasajero involucrado en el choque fue llevado al hospital con lesiones que no ponen en riesgo su vida, mientras que el conductor del camión de carga salió ileso.

FOX13 habló con el chofer del camión, quien relató que cruzaba la intersección con la luz verde cuando otro vehículo impactó violentamente su unidad durante la persecución policial.

“La policía venía persiguiendo el carro. Yo tenía la luz verde y estaba cruzando cuando el vehículo me golpeó y hizo que mi camión se volcara. Pensé que casi perdía la vida”, declaró.

Late-night chase ends in fatal crash with box truck in Raleigh

(LPL) – A suspect died after crashing his vehicle during a nearly five-mile police pursuit late Tuesday night in the Raleigh area, according to the U.S. Marshals Service.

Authorities said the incident began around 9:30 p.m. when the Tennessee Highway Patrol attempted to stop a vehicle for speeding near the Greenbriar Apartments on Madewell Street. The driver refused to stop, prompting a pursuit that lasted approximately five miles.

During the chase, the suspect ran through multiple traffic signals. The pursuit ended at the intersection of Warford Street and James Road, where the vehicle ran a red light and crashed into a box truck and a light pole.

The driver was rushed to a hospital, where he later died. Investigators said the suspect had an active warrant for aggravated assault and that a pistol was found inside the vehicle.

When FOX13 arrived at the scene, one vehicle was heavily damaged and another was overturned in the roadway. Multiple law enforcement agencies were present as the investigation continued.

According to the U.S. Marshals Service, no officers were injured. A passenger involved in the crash was transported to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, while the box truck driver was not hurt.

FOX13 spoke with the box truck driver, who said he was driving through the intersection with a green light when another vehicle struck him during the police pursuit.

“Police were chasing the car. The light was green and I was going through when the car slammed into me and caused my truck to flip over. I thought I almost lost my life,” the driver said.
