Regional One Health despedirá a 103 empleados tras cerrar hospital de cuidados prolongados

(LPL) – Un total de 103 empleados de Regional One Health perderán sus empleos como parte del cierre permanente del Extended Care Hospital, una unidad especializada en cuidados agudos de larga duración ubicada en el campus principal del sistema hospitalario en Memphis.

La institución presentó un aviso bajo la Ley WARN al estado de Tennessee, informando que los despidos entrarán en vigor el 1 de septiembre. Este tipo de notificación es obligatoria cuando una empresa realiza despidos masivos o cierra una instalación.

Los trabajadores afectados laboran en el hospital de 30 camas, que abrió sus puertas en 2014 para atender a pacientes que requieren tratamientos médicos prolongados antes de ser dados de alta o trasladados a otro centro de atención.

En un comunicado, Regional One Health explicó que el cierre forma parte de una reorganización interna destinada a concentrar recursos en otros servicios del sistema de salud y enfrentar los desafíos financieros que atraviesa la industria hospitalaria.

Aunque Regional One continuará operando el resto de sus hospitales, clínicas y servicios especializados, la eliminación de 103 puestos de trabajo representa uno de los mayores recortes de personal anunciados recientemente por una institución médica en el área de Memphis.
