Tiroteo en Heights deja una víctima mortal y un hombre detenido, acusado de asesinato

(LPL) – Una mujer murió y un hombre enfrenta un cargo de asesinato tras un tiroteo ocurrido en el vecindario Heights de Memphis, según informó el Departamento de Policía de Memphis (MPD).

De acuerdo con la policía, los agentes respondieron a un reporte de disparos en Fairoaks Avenue, cerca de Jackson Avenue, alrededor de la 1:44 p.m. del sábado. En el lugar encontraron a una mujer que fue trasladada al hospital en estado crítico, donde posteriormente falleció a causa de sus heridas.

Las autoridades indicaron que la víctima conocía al agresor. Más tarde, la policía identificó al sospechoso como John Whitten, de 24 años. Whitten fue acusado de asesinato en segundo grado y de posesión de un arma de fuego durante la comisión de un delito peligroso. Hasta el momento, no se le ha otorgado fianza.

MPD señaló que la investigación permanece en curso.

  Fatal Shooting in Heights Leads to Arrest and Murder Charge

(LPL) – A woman is dead, and a man is facing homicide charges after a shooting in the Heights neighborhood of Memphis, according to the Memphis Police Department (MPD).

Police said officers responded to a shooting on Fairoaks Avenue near Jackson Avenue around 1:44 p.m. on Saturday. A woman at the scene was taken to the hospital in critical condition and later died from her injuries.

Authorities reported that the victim knew the man who shot her. The suspect was later identified as 24-year-old John Whitten. Whitten has been charged with second-degree murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony. No bond has been set for him at this time.

MPD stated that the investigation remains ongoing.
