Clase 2026 de las escuelas de Memphis-Shelby marca récord de estudiantes hispanos con los más altos honores académicos

(LPL) – El destacado desempeño académico de los estudiantes hispanos en las escuelas de Memphis-Shelby County continúa en ascenso, reflejando una tendencia clara de crecimiento y superación en los niveles más altos de logro estudiantil. En la Clase del 2026, un total de 14 estudiantes hispanos fueron reconocidos como valedictorian (valedictoriano, el alumno con el promedio más alto) y salutatorian (salutatoriano, el segundo mejor promedio), una cifra que supera los 10 del 2025 y los 8 del 2024.

Este incremento no solo representa números, sino historias de esfuerzo, disciplina y compromiso con la educación. Cada año, más estudiantes hispanos están alcanzando posiciones de liderazgo académico en sus escuelas, demostrando el impacto del trabajo constante y el acceso a oportunidades educativas en el condado.

Durante el evento anual donde se reconoció a estos estudiantes, se celebró el talento y la dedicación de la Clase del 2026.

Aunque la gala sirvió como escenario para honrar a todos los valedictorianos y salutatorianos del distrito, uno de los momentos destacados fue la participación de Jairo Arguijo, CEO de Marketing Innovation Agency y de La Prensa Latina, quien formó parte de los oradores de la noche, resaltando la importancia del liderazgo y la perseverancia en la juventud.

Olga I. Pérez, especialista en participación estudiantil de las escuelas del condado de Memphis-Shelby, se mostró muy orgullosa de los logros de esta camada de estudiantes latinos. “Creo que la Ciudad de Memphis tiene en estos tiempos una buena cepa de estudiantes hispanos que demuestran que pueden lograr lo que se propongan con mucho trabajo y dedicación. […] Esta es una tierra de oportunidades, y hay que saber agradecer y tomar las muchas oportunidades que esta tierra les ofrece”, dijo.

Más allá de los reconocimientos, estos estudiantes representan el futuro de la ciudad: futuros profesionales, líderes comunitarios y agentes de cambio. The outstanding academic performance of Hispanic students in Memphis-Shelby County schools continues its upward trajectory, reflecting a clear trend of growth and excellence at the highest levels of student achievement. In the Class of 2026, a total of 14 Hispanic students were recognized as valedictorians (the student with the highest GPA) and salutatorians (the student with the second-highest GPA)—a figure that surpasses the 10 recognized in 2025 and the 8 in 2024.

Pérez, Student Engagement Specialist for Memphis-Shelby County Schools, expressed great pride in the achievements of this cohort of Latino students. “I believe that, at this moment in time, the City of Memphis is home to a fine caliber of Hispanic students who demonstrate that they can achieve whatever they set their minds to through hard work and dedication. […] This is a land of opportunity, and one must know how to be grateful for—and seize—the many opportunities that this land offers them,” she said.

Their success not only inspires their families but also new generations who see in them a clear example that effort and education can open doors.
