Local high school wins international jazz band competition in NY

(LPL/WREG) – La banda de la Preparatoria Central obtuvo el primer lugar en la Competencia y Festival de Bandas de Jazz de la Preparatoria Ellington.

La banda de jazz de la Preparatoria Central viajó a la ciudad de Nueva York para competir contra cientos de bandas de preparatoria de todo el mundo en la competencia anual.

Liderada por Ollie Liddell, obtuvieron el primer lugar, seguida por la Sant Andreu Jazz Band de Barcelona, ​​España, en segundo lugar y la Osceola County School for the Arts de Kissimmee, Florida, en tercer lugar.

(LPL/WREG) -Central High School’s band earned the top spot at the Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition and Festival.

Central High’s jazz band traveled to New York City to compete against hundreds of high school bands from around the world in the annual competition.

Led by Ollie Liddell, they took first place, with the Sant Andreu Jazz Band from Barcelona, Spain taking second place and the Osceola County School for the Arts from Kissimmee, Florida coming in third place.

The competition hosted the top high school jazz ensembles across the world in New York, which began on May 7 and capped off on Sunday evening.

Liddell gave a statement to local media on the achievement.

“I am elated that we could bring this back to our school and our city! I am truly amazed and happy for our students at Central High.”
