(LPL) – Nuevos documentos judiciales han arrojado luz sobre el tiroteo que dejó un muerto el pasado lunes en un restaurante Wendy’s ubicado en el sureste de Memphis.

La víctima fue identificada como Stephen Shepard, quien había ido al lugar a recoger a una empleada tras una discusión laboral.

Según la declaración jurada de arresto, el presunto agresor es Darelle Bowers, de 37 años, gerente general del local situado en Winchester Road, cerca de Hacks Cross Road. Ese día, Bowers discutió con una empleada que quería salir antes de terminar su turno. La trabajadora llamó a Shepard, quien la había llevado al trabajo ese mismo día, para que la recogiera, luego de que Bowers supuestamente la amenazara con abofetearla.

Cuando Shepard llegó al restaurante, la situación se tornó física. Durante el altercado, Bowers llamó a la policía, sacó un arma y le indicó tanto a la empleada como a Shepard que debían quedarse en el lugar hasta que llegaran los agentes.

Sin embargo, según evidencia en video proporcionada por una testigo, Shepard, quien estaba desarmado, lanzó un golpe a Bowers. Este respondió con un disparo que impactó a Shepard en el abdomen, causándole una caída inmediata. Luego del disparo, Bowers se acercó y le dio una bofetada mientras estaba en el suelo.

La policía llegó poco después y encontró a Shepard tendido en el estacionamiento. Fue trasladado al hospital en estado crítico, pero falleció a causa de la herida.

Bowers admitió ser el autor del disparo. La policía recuperó una pistola de su cintura antes de detenerlo. Ahora enfrenta cargos por asesinato en primer grado. Permanece bajo custodia y se espera que comparezca ante el tribunal estejueves para una audiencia de fianza.

(LPL) – New court documents have shed light on the shooting that left one man dead this past Monday at a Wendy’s restaurant in Southeast Memphis.

The victim has been identified as Stephen Shepard, who had gone to the location to pick up an employee following a workplace dispute.

According to the arrest affidavit, the alleged shooter is 37-year-old Darelle Bowers, the general manager of the restaurant located on Winchester Road near Hacks Cross Road. That day, Bowers got into an argument with an employee who wanted to leave her shift early. The worker called Shepard — who had driven her to work earlier — to pick her up after Bowers allegedly threatened to slap her.

When Shepard returned to the restaurant, the situation turned physical. During the altercation, Bowers called police, pulled out a gun, and told both the employee and Shepard that they had to remain at the scene until officers arrived.

However, video evidence provided by a witness reportedly shows that Shepard, who was unarmed, threw a punch at Bowers. In response, Bowers fired a single shot that struck Shepard in the abdomen, causing him to fall to the ground. After the shooting, Bowers walked up and slapped Shepard while he lay on the ground.

Police arrived shortly afterward and found Shepard lying in the parking lot. He was transported to the hospital in critical condition but later died from the gunshot wound.

Bowers admitted to being the shooter. Officers recovered a handgun from his waistband before placing him under arrest. He is now facing a charge of first-degree murder. Bowers remains in custody and is expected to appear in court this Thursday for a bond hearing.
