Una persona murió luego de ser atropellada por una patrulla de MPD en la Park Ave. y Getwell Rd.

(LPL) – Un peatón murió el jueves por la noche luego de ser atropellado por una patrulla del Departamento de Policía de Memphis (MPD) en la intersección de Park Avenue y Getwell Road, cerca del campus Park Avenue de la Universidad de Memphis.

Según informó el MPD, los agentes respondieron al lugar alrededor de las 6:40 p.m. después de que uno de sus vehículos impactara a una persona mientras se encontraba en servicio. La víctima, cuya identidad no ha sido revelada, fue trasladada a un hospital en estado crítico, pero posteriormente falleció a causa de sus heridas.

La Policía de Carreteras de Tennessee (THP, por sus siglas en inglés) asumió la investigación para garantizar una revisión independiente del incidente.

Hasta las 9:30 p.m. del jueves, todos los carriles en dirección este y oeste de Park Avenue y Getwell Road permanecían cerrados mientras las autoridades continuaban trabajando en la escena.

(LPL) – A pedestrian was killed Thursday night after being struck by a Memphis Police Department (MPD) patrol car at the intersection of Park Avenue and Getwell Road, near the University of Memphis’ Park Avenue campus.

According to the MPD, officers responded to the scene around 6:40 p.m. after one of their vehicles struck a person while on duty. The victim, whose identity has not been released, was transported to a hospital in critical condition but later died from their injuries.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol (THP) has taken over the investigation to ensure an independent review of the incident.

As of 9:30 p.m. Thursday, all eastbound and westbound lanes of Park Avenue and Getwell Road remained closed while authorities continued working at the scene.

Authorities have not released further details about the circumstances of the accident or the officer involved, and the investigation is ongoing.
