Dos muertos tras accidente de avioneta cerca del aeropuerto de Holly Springs, Mississippi

(LPL) – Una avioneta se estrelló la tarde del domingo cerca del Aeropuerto Holly Springs–Marshall County, en el condado de Marshall, Mississippi, dejando al menos dos personas muertas, informaron autoridades locales.

De acuerdo con el sheriff Kenny Dickerson, el accidente ocurrió alrededor de las 5 p.m. en una zona boscosa ubicada al este de la pista, cerca del extremo sur del aeropuerto, en el área de 171 A.Q. Greer Rd. Agentes del sheriff llegaron a la escena pocos minutos después y encontraron la aeronave envuelta en llamas.

Two killed after small plane crashes near Holly Springs airport in Mississippi

(LPL) – A small airplane crashed Sunday evening near the Holly Springs–Marshall County Airport in Marshall County, Mississippi, leaving two people dead, according to local authorities.

Sheriff Kenny Dickerson said the crash occurred around 5 p.m. in a wooded area east of the runway, near the south end of the airport at 171 A.Q. Greer Rd. Deputies arrived at the scene within minutes and found the aircraft engulfed in flames.

Due to the intensity of the fire, officials initially said they were unable to determine the exact type of aircraft involved. Multiple fire departments responded to help extinguish the blaze.

Two people were pronounced dead at the scene. The Marshall County Sheriff’s Department later identified the victims as Wesley Bolden, 29, of Marshall County, and Jordan Hall, 17, of Olive Branch.

Authorities said the pilot was apparently attempting to land at the airport when the plane went down in the wooded area near the runway. The destination of the flight and the cause of the crash have not yet been determined.

Lt. Colonel David Cook said federal authorities were notified and the scene is being secured until investigators arrive. The Federal Aviation Administration is expected to lead the investigation.

FAA records show the plane was registered to Firecrest LLC, a flight training company based in Holly Springs. According to the company’s website, Wesley Bolden appeared to be the founder and a flight instructor.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
