TIRCC invita a dueños de negocios hispanos a reunión por impacto de operativo de ICE en Memphis

(LPL) -Este miércoles 05 de noviembre a las 6:00 de la tarde se llevará a cabo en el Salón Monarca de Memphis, una reunión a la que están invitados los dueños de negocios de la comunidad que se han visto afectados por la baja afluencia de clientes, debido al fuerte operativo de ICE en la ciudad.

Sandra Pita, miembro de la Coalición de Tennessee por los Derechos de los Inmigrantes y Refugiados (TIRRC, por sus siglas en inglés), indicó que este encuentro servirá para escuchar los problemas de cada negocio y luego deseñar un plan de trabajo que ayude a solventar la situación.

“Queremos escuchar de ellos mismos (dueños de negocios) qué tanto les está afectando la actual situación en la ciudad. Luego, presionaremos a quien haya que presionar para que nos ayude”, indicó Pita.

Por orden del presidente Trump y el gobernador del estado Bill Lee, en Memphis están instalados desde el pasado 29 de septiembre unos 700 agentes de diferentes agencias federales.

Según cifras oficiales, en el mes del operativo ha habido más de 300 arrestos por parte de ICE, lo que ha generado temor en la comunidad inmigrante.

Por ello, en las última semanas, muchas familias han decidido limitar sus visitas a restaurantes, supermercados, salones de belleza, tiendas y demás, lo que ha bajado las ventas en negocios hispanos hasta un 40-50%.

“Los esperamos a todos. Unidos, podemos lograr más cosas”, finalizó Pita.

TIRCC invites Hispanic business owners to a meeting about the impact of the ICE operation in Memphis

(LPL) – This Wednesday, November 5, at 6:00 p.m., a meeting will be held at the Monarca Hall in Memphis, inviting business owners from the community who have been affected by the decline in customer traffic due to the large ICE operation in the city.

Sandra Pita, a member of the Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC), said that this meeting will serve to listen to the concerns of each business and then design a plan of action to help address the situation.

“We want to hear directly from the business owners how much the current situation in the city is affecting them. Then, we’ll put pressure on whoever we need to in order to get help,” said Pita.

By order of President Trump and the state’s Governor Bill Lee, around 700 agents from different federal agencies have been deployed in Memphis since September 29. According to official figures, more than 300 arrests have been made by ICE in the first month of the operation, generating fear within the immigrant community.

As a result, in recent weeks, many families have chosen to limit their visits to restaurants, supermarkets, beauty salons, stores, and other businesses, leading to a 40–50% drop in sales among Hispanic-owned businesses.

“We invite everyone to attend. United, we can achieve more,” Pita concluded.
