A partir de este 2 de febrero, quedaron oficialmente abiertas las inscripciones para la Beca Step Ahead, un programa anual de apoyo educativo que otorga ayuda financiera a mujeres jóvenes de la comunidad de Memphis y el condado de Shelby que desean continuar sus estudios superiores.

La Beca Step Ahead, impulsada por A Step Ahead Foundation, tiene como objetivo eliminar barreras económicas para que mujeres de entre 17 y 35 años puedan avanzar en su educación en universidades, colegios o instituciones técnicas acreditadas. Desde su creación en 2014, este programa ha beneficiado a cientos de mujeres con más de dos millones de dólares en becas en la región.

Las solicitantes interesadas deben cumplir ciertos requisitos, entre ellos:

• Ser mujer de 17 a 35 años al momento de la fecha límite.
• Ser residente de Shelby County por al menos dos años o haber asistido a la escuela secundaria en el condado.

Applications are now open for the A Step Ahead Foundation’s Step Ahead Scholarship

(LPL) – As of February 2nd, applications are officially open for the Step Ahead Scholarship, an annual educational support program that provides financial assistance to young women in the Memphis and Shelby County community who wish to pursue higher education.

The Step Ahead Scholarship, powered by the A Step Ahead Foundation, aims to remove financial barriers so that women between the ages of 17 and 35 can advance their education at accredited universities, colleges, or technical institutions. Since its inception in 2014, this program has benefited hundreds of women with more than two million dollars in scholarships in the region.

Interested applicants must meet certain requirements, including:

• Being a woman between the ages of 17 and 35 at the time of the deadline.
• Being a resident of Shelby County for at least two years or having attended high school in the county.
• Having applied to or being enrolled in an accredited institution of higher education.
• Attending a mandatory foundation training session if this is your first time applying (dates are available before the application deadline).

The application process, which begins today, will remain open until April 3, 2026. Winners will be notified around May 22, 2026.

The scholarships also include the opportunity to become foundation ambassadors, promoting education about reproductive health and access to important resources in the community.
