Oficial de policía de Ruleville arrestado por intentar extorsionar a inmigrante indocumentado

(LPL) – El oficial del Departamento de Policía de Ruleville, Antonio Artez Wade fue arrestado ayer en Gulfport, Mississippi, por cargos relacionados con la extorsión de un inmigrante hispano indocumentado.

Según documentos judiciales, Wade detuvo a la víctima durante un control de tráfico el 17 de septiembre de 2025. Al descubrir que la persona carecía de identificación y estatus legal, Wade supuestamente le ofreció “ayuda” a cambio de dinero. La víctima pagó la suma exigida de 2,500 dólares. Wade ahora enfrenta cargos de extorsión, chantaje y abuso de autoridad.

“No hay detención de tráfico que deba convertirse en una extorsión”, afirmó el Fiscal de EE. UU. Clay Joyner. “La corrupción de este tipo socava la seguridad pública y la confianza en las fuerzas del orden, y no será tolerada”.

Matthew Reidell, Agente Especial Asistente de Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), añadió: “Este caso involucra violaciones graves. La explotación de una persona vulnerable no solo daña a individuos inocentes, sino que también socava la integridad de nuestro sistema migratorio. El Comisionado del Departamento de Seguridad Pública de Mississippi, Sean Tindell, declaró: “El arresto del oficial Wade por intentar aprovecharse de un inmigrante indocumentado es profundamente preocupante y contrasta con los valores y estándares que se esperan de quienes portan la placa. De ser declarado culpable, Wade enfrenta hasta 20 años de prisión. Actualmente permanece detenido sin derecho a fianza mientras se realiza la audiencia de detención, y podrían existir cargos estatales adicionales.

El caso está siendo investigado por el Departamento de Seguridad Nacional de EE. UU., y el Asistente del Fiscal Robert J. Mims está a cargo de la acusación.

Ruleville Police Officer Arrested for Attempting to Extort Undocumented Hispanic Immigrant

(LPL) – Antonio Artez Wade, 36, an officer with the Ruleville Police Department, was arrested yesterday in Gulfport, Mississippi, on charges related to the extortion of an undocumented Hispanic immigrant.

According to court documents, Wade stopped the victim during a traffic stop on September 17, 2025. Upon discovering that the individual lacked identification and legal status, Wade allegedly offered “help” in exchange for money. The victim paid the demanded sum of $2,500. Wade now faces charges of extortion, blackmail, and abuse of authority.

“No traffic stop should ever turn into an extortion attempt,” said U.S. Attorney Clay Joyner. “Corruption of this kind undermines public safety and trust in law enforcement, and it will not be tolerated.”

Matthew Reidell, Assistant Special Agent in Charge of Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), added: “This case involves serious violations. Exploiting a vulnerable person not only harms innocent individuals but also undermines the integrity of our immigration system. Mississippi Department of Public Safety Commissioner Sean Tindell stated: “The arrest of Officer Wade for attempting to take advantage of an undocumented immigrant is deeply troubling and stands in stark contrast to the values and standards expected of those who wear the badge. Our agency will continue working to ensure that any officer who violates public trust is held fully accountable.”

Attorney General Lynn Fitch said: “Officer Wade violated the trust between law enforcement and the people they pledged to protect. This abuse of power will not be tolerated. We thank our federal and state partners for their commitment to restoring confidence in our criminal justice and immigration systems.”

If convicted, Wade faces up to 20 years in prison. He is currently being held without bond pending a detention hearing, and additional state charges may be possible.

The case is being investigated by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, with Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert J. Mims prosecuting.
